Continuity and expertise for the Antwerp port community
Port of Antwerp-Bruges has sold the Brabo floating crane to Bonn&Mees and HEBO, a specialized service provider with extensive expertise in lifting, salvage and maritime projects. With this transfer, Brabo is given a new future with a partner experienced in complex maritime operations and committed to providing reliable services to customers and partners.
The Brabo had been operating in the Antwerp port area since 1981, supporting both internal services and external customers for many years. With a lifting capacity of 800 tonnes, the floating crane played an important role in heavy lifting operations in the port.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges had previously decided to discontinue its own lifting operations with the Brabo.
With the sale to Bonn&Mees and HEBO, Brabo is joining a specialized maritime operator. HEBO and Bonn & Mees are part of Marine People. Together, HEBO and Bonn & Mees operate a broad fleet of floating cranes with various lifting capacities and unique capabilities. This allows the most suitable equipment to be deployed for each project and ensures that continuity of service does not depend on a single floating crane.
Bonn&Mees and HEBO intends to deploy this lifting capacity in Antwerp as well, serving both existing and future users within the port community. In doing so, the transfer contributes to further strengthening specialized lifting services in the port and supporting the breakbulk sector. The combination of capacity, flexibility and maritime expertise provides customers and partners with greater assurance of reliable service over the long term.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges will, within its capabilities and remit, support in exploring a suitable berth or operational base in the Port of Antwerp. In this way, the parties will work together to identify a practical solution that meets the needs of the market and the port community.
The transfer is scheduled to take place by the end of August.
